3 Games to Keep the Family Entertained on Summer Road Trips
If you have children you know the joy of being a parent. You also know how hard it can be when kids need to be entertained and you want to say “leave momm/daddy alone for a few minutes!”
Those stresses can be certainly magnified on long road trips, but with these car games as arsenal you can make your children think, have fun, and keep yourself from having a road side emotional breakdown.
The Picnic Game: This one is great for practicing memorization, which is good for both adults and children. The leader starts with ‘I went to a picnic last week and brought…” and the first person would say something that starts with A (i.e., apple). The next person repeats what the person before them said as well as adding their own contribution. It’s pretty tricky, especially when you get to the dreaded X.
The Counting Game: You can count telephone poles, animals in a field, red cars you pass, and, if you’re lucky, the amount of motorcyclists that whizz by in a pack.
Lung Power: This game can be played when going through tunnels, over bridges, or passing cemeteries. Whatever location, participants hold their breath and until they’ve passed through, over, or by. The honor system is crucial, as tricksters can subtly breathe through their nose.
While you can entertain with electronics we like these games the work the mind (and body) and allow everyone to have a bit of competitive fun.
At Merchants Auto we have a great used inventory selection. Stop by our dealership, located in Hooksett, NH for a test drive!
